From punk rock beginnings in The Wackers to the funk-surf-whatever concoction that The Insidious Rays became, Matty Juknevic and Mikey Davidson have been playing in bands together since their childhood in the 90's. Over two decades later, The Rays have become a fixture in the Lehigh Valley music scene. They've played at basement punk shows, they're a regular favorite at smokey Bethlehem dive bar The Funhouse, and they draw big crowds for their outdoor Musikfest sets. The Rays have expanded their line-up to a 5-piece in recent years, rounding out the band with Matty's brother Seth Juknevic on bass, drummer Jon Braun, and keyboardist/guitarist Christopher McDermott.
We recorded the band in September 2017 on the roof of the Cigar Factory building in Allentown, PA. The band is in the process of writing and recording a new album due out in 2018, and all the songs they performed for their Rooftop Session are brand spankin' new.
